Unidad 2 - Semana 2

This week ...
Preschool students read the book Tres Amigos, practiced counting in Spanish and played games using the Spanish numbers and colors.

Prekindergarten students read Mis Cinco Sentidos and Vegetal Como Eres to learn the words for the parts of the face. They also played a game to practice the words: Cara, ojos, boca, orejas, pelo, dientes.

Kindergarten students began learning the vocabulary for the clothes: camisa, pantalon, falda, vestido. They chose also what color they like best saying : "Me gusta...."  Then they described pictures of clothes (camisa azul).

First grade students talked about houses (casa) and apartments (apartamento) and the rooms in a house/apartment. The vocabulary they are learning is: dormitorio, cocina, bano, sala. Looking at pictures, they responded to questions asking where they were:
-Donde estas?
-en la (sala)
-Estas en la cocina?
-No, estoy en la sala

Second grade students continued to practice the vocabulary for the house describing where different characters were:
-Donde esta Woody?
-Woody esta en la cocina
- Esta Woody en el dormitorio?
-No, esta en la cocina.
-Donde estan los chicos? (plural)
- Estan en el comedor.

Third grade students designed a city (ciudad) on the board and placed different buildings in the map: casa, apartamento, tienda, farmacia, parque, escuela, panaderia. Then they described  where the buildings were using names for of the streets (calles) and avenidas (avenues).

Fourth grade students used maps of Kansas City to describe the location of parks (parques) and streets (calles).  They also used location words like: cerca, lejos, a la derecha, a la izquierda, en frente de,  al lado de. They asked and answered questions regarding location: Donde esta...?... esta

Fifth grade students completed a project introducing themselves, describing what they like to do and what they are wearing.
Hola! Me llamo... Me gusta ..... Llevo ......
They also created dialogues with partners asking and answering questions about likes and dislikes.
-Te gusta mi camisa amarilla?
- Si, me gusta tu camisa amarilla
Students played a drill and practice game  describing what they were wearing: "Llevo..."
They also practiced spelling the clothing vocabulary.
